NVQ Level 2
A National Vocational Qualification is proof that you have met the standard of work required in your industry to the National Standards laid down by an occupational Lead Body. To achieve an NVQ a person must present evidence that proves that they are competent in a real working environment to the national standards. This evidence comes in many different forms, the best form being direct observation by an Assessor who is competent and experienced within the occupational area. Other forms of evidence could be by accreditation of previous learning (APL), naturally generated documentation, video, written reports, witness testimonies, etc and then supported by questioning. All evidence can be compiled into a portfolio and presented for formative or summative assessment and internal verification prior to certification.
Aim of the NVQ
The aim of NVQ's is to improve the UK's international competitiveness by raising standards and attainment levels in education and training by ensuring that:
1. Employers invest in employee development to achieve business success.
2. Individuals have access to education and training opportunities, leading to recognised qualifications, which meet their needs and aspirations.
